More Information

Information on this page is for users of the Extension Mailboxes. The UniBears Extension Mailboxes service allows people to share a single common telephone number. This service has one menu and two to nine selectable UniBears mailboxes on the same extension number.

Setup

The extension mailboxes login varies from a single-mailbox login in that you are asked to select an extension mailbox before logging in. The extension mailboxes menus may sound very strange until the name has been recorded for each extension mailbox.

For privacy CNS recommends that each person have a different mailbox with a different passcode. To improve security please do not use a passcode that is the same as the extension number or the temporary (or default) passcode provided by CNS.

Each extension mailbox subscriber on the common extension MUST initialize their mailbox from the set with the extension telephone line number matching the UniBears extension number (unless the extension mailbox is a non-individual's mailbox that CNS has initialized).

  1. Dial 3-5530 to access the UniBears voicemail system. If you have caller-id blocking activated on this phone line or do not know if your have caller-id blocking dial *82 then 3-5530 following the three-beep prompt.
  2. The system will read the mailboxes and their number to you. Press the number key associated with to the mailbox you wish to establish a connection with.
  3. Enter the temporary passcode provided by CNS followed by the # key
  4. The system will welcome you to the new user tutorial. The system will ask you to change your pass code and record your name. Please make sure you listen to the entire tutorial before hanging up.
* Note: if the tutorial doesn't play, you can follow these instructions to set your passcode and record your name

Telephone User Interface

What callers hear

When callers are connected to a UniBears extension with two or more mailbox extensions they will hear "To leave a voice mail for [name] press [key]." for each mailbox. For example:

"To leave a voice mail for John Smith press 1.
To leave a voice mail for Ben Johnson press 2.
To leave a voice mail for the office press 3."
where "John Smith" "Ben Johnson" and "the office" are the recorded name prompts for their respective mailboxes.

After they select an extension mailbox they will hear greetings and prompts associated with the service ordered for that extension mailbox.
