UniBears: Comparing Virtual Fax Offerings

The UniBears fax service allows you to receive your fax messages electronically. The files are in a .TIF format, which can be read on almost any workstation.

The fax messages, once received in electronic form, can be stored for archiving on your computer. They can be forwarded to other people as an email attachment. They can be printed out on a printer. Each subscriber can decide to store the fax messages in the UniBears storage system, in which case you would have access to them through the UniBears Web Access page. UniBears storage has a 100-message quota and a will purge your fax messages after 60-days. Or you can have the messages stored in your CalMail email account, in which case you would see them in your INBOX using an email client (Eudora, AppleMail, etc) or through Calmail or Bearmail.

Why would I want this?	This service provides more privacy for your faxes. You can view faxes on your own workstation and control when and where faxes are printed.	If your department currently has a shared fax, someone is responsible for physically picking up the faxes and deliverying them to the appropriate recipient. With the virtual fax service, the person would forward the email with the fax attachment to the appropriate recipient. The person can do this without leaving his/her desk.	This enables you to keep your Centrex number.
